Becks suffers WC agony

David Beckham’s World Cup dreams are in tatters. This comes after the midfielder snapped his Achilles tendon during AC Milan’s 1-0 win over Chievo in Serie A on Sunday. The 34-year-old was unchallenged when he suffered the injury and hobbled off in pain before being stretchered away. He is due to undergo specialist surgery to reattach the tendon in Finland on Monday and is not expected to play again for at least six months. The Englishman’s Milan teammate Ignazio Abate said Becks was very down. “He's not doing well. He was in tears in the dressing room, he wasn't saying a lot. This has affected us all," said Abate. Beckham is England’s most capped outfield player, having played 115 times for his country. He was also bidding to become the first England player to feature in four successive World Cup finals.
