Diouf faces jail time

Former African Footballer of the Year El-Hadji Diouf faces a jail sentence for assaulting a Senegalese woman. The controversial Blackburn striker is alleged to have ‘wounded’ Khady Sy last year. He was arrested while back in his home country for a charity concert last weekend. Sy claims the assault took place at the Casino du Cap Vert in the Senegalese coastal resort of Almadies. Said Diouf’s agent Aleksandar Krstic: “He was attending a charity event and did not expect to be arrested but at this stage I cannot say much more.” Diouf already has a conviction for assault, having been found guilty and given a suspended three-month jail sentence for striking the ex-wife of his international team-mate Khalilou Fadiga. Diouf has also played for EPL clubs Liverpool, Sunderland and Bolton.
