Hodgson heads Reds short-list

Roy Hodgson is favourite to land the vacant managerial job at Liverpool. This comes after Rafa Benitez left the club by mutual consent on Thursday. According to reports, the Reds have charged club legend Kenny Dalglish and managing director Christian Purslow with finding a suitable replacement for Benitez. No interim or caretaker appointment will be made. Hodgson heads the queue after the sterling work he has done at Fulham on a limited budget. Zenit St Petersburg's Luciano Spalletti, Galatasaray boss Frank Rijkaard, Slaven Bilic, Mark Hughes, Bayern Munich’s Louis Van Gaal and Benfica's Jorge Jesus are also believed to be in the frame. Martin O'Neill is also coveted even though Aston Villa insist the Irishman will be staying in the Midlands.
