Leo can be best ever – Diego

Argentina manager Diego Maradona believes Lionel Messi can establish himself as the greatest World Cup player ever. Despite failing to get the best out of the current Fifa World Player of the Year at international level, Maradona has called on the diminutive Barcelona star to inspire his country to global glory just as he did in Mexico 24 years ago."I would love it if Messi had the same impact as I did in 1986,” said Mardona on Friday. "Behind Leo there is a team and that should be the focus of our attention. I just wish from the bottom of my heart Leo gets to showcase his talent and has the best performance of all time in a World Cup." Argentina opened their World Cup campaign with a 1-0 win over Nigeria on Saturday, with Messi playing a leading role despite not getting on the score sheet.
