Grovelling Green says sorry

Robert Green, currently public enemy No.1 in England, apologised to his countrymen for his goalkeeping howler against USA. The West Ham stopper gifted the Americans a goal by allowing the ball to slip through his hands in England’s World Cup opening draw on Saturday. "I walked in at half-time and said sorry to the chaps - and now I apologise to the millions of people back home,” revealed Green on Sunday. He also refused to look for any excuses and was clear that the controversial Adidas Jabulani ball had nothing to do with his blunder. "I'm not blaming the ball - I should've stopped it, there's no two ways about it. It's a shot from a long way out and I don't know how I've let it in. I save shots like that time and again in training. It's a genuine mistake and now I have to deal with it.”
