Roo apologises for ranting at fans

Wayne Rooney has apologised for lashing out at England fans following Friday’s goalless draw with Algeria. Speaking to a TV camera as he trudged off the field in Cape Town, the Manchester United striker said: "Nice to see your home fans boo you. That's what loyal support is." He now claims he regrets his choice of words. "Last night, on reflection I said things in the heat of the moment that came out of frustration of both our performance and the result. For my part I apologise for any offence caused by my actions at the end of the game," said Rooney is an official statement. He also issued a rallying cry to his teammates. "The most important thing now is to regroup, be positive and work towards winning the game on Wednesday (against Slovenia). To do this the players will need the support of the fans more than ever."
