Lamps ready to make big splash

Frank Lampard believes the experience in the England squad will hold them in good stead at the World Cup. Conceding that this will be his last appearance in the global showpiece, the 32-year-old Chelsea midfielder reckons the vast knowledge of players like himself, Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and John Terry will see England make a big splash in South Africa. "The confidence in ourselves is quite similar to four years ago when there was the same kind of build-up pre-Germany. A lot of us are maybe more confident in a way because of the experience of having been there. I certainly feel better for my years of experience in club football and at international level. But, by the same token, we know how difficult a difficult a competition this is,” admitted Lampard on Friday. England open their campaign against USA in Rustenburg on Saturday.
