Blues release two star players
The clearout at Chelsea has begun with Michael Ballack and Joe Cole both being released by the EPL champions. The news comes amidst rumours that manager Carlo Ancelotti is determined to freshen up his ageing squad with younger players. According to reports, Cole snubbed the Blues offer of £90,000 a week because he wanted parity with the club's top stars, who are paid up to £150,000 a week. The England midfielder is now free to negotiate with a host of clubs clamouring for his services, including Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City. The 33-year-old Ballack, who is currently injured, had demanded a one year contract extension, but the Blues management refused to meet his demands.
