City set for United raid

Manchester City are set to launch an audacious bid on bitter cross-town rivals Manchester United for Nemanja Vidic. According to reports, City are ready to offer £20m for the Serbian international defender, which includes a whopping £115,000-a-week four-year pay deal. The 28-year-old, who is currently on duty at the World Cup, has been unsettled at Old Trafford for some time. However, much of his displeasure has been linked to the fact that his wife has failed to adapt to life in England. This has pointed to a move to Spain or Italy. But with City offering him what will amount to a £24m pay package, Vidic could just be persuaded to remain in the EPL. If United lose Vidic they are expected to replace him with Palermo defender Simon Kjaer.
