United misfit off to France and other red-hot gossip

Manchester United misfit Anderson could be on his way to French champions Marseille. The 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder, who suffered a severe left knee injury in February, has struggled to hold down a starting place at Old Trafford since his £18m move from Porto three seasons ago. Elsewhere, Manchester City are hot on the heels of Valencia striker David Silva, and are set to offer the Spaniard a cool £40m in wages over five years; Tottenham are keen on bringing Werder Bremen winger Marko Marin to White Hart Lane; Arsenal and Manchester United are to fight it out for Borussia Dortmund's young Serbian international Neven Subotic, who is valued at £25m; and St Etienne have joined Glasgow Rangers in the race to sign Manchester United's French winger Gabriel Obertan on loan.
