Evra backs Roo’s decision

(25-10-2010) Patrice Evra has no problem with Wayne Rooney’s decision to remain at Manchester United despite the England striker’s comments that the squad lacked quality. Rooney, who signed a new five-year contract late last week, must now reintegrate into the Old Trafford dressing room following last week’s saga that saw him almost leave the club. "I know from experience that I could be in his situation one day and so could everyone. We are always open to him if he needs our help," Frenchman Evra told the Sunday Mirror newspaper. "I myself would not play for this club if I knew we were not strong enough to win the league. That is why we all play for Manchester United.” He added: “I agree with the criticism that United have not had the winning mentality this season."
