City in for Samba star
(04-12-2010) Manchester City are ready to break the bank to land Barcelona and Brazil star Dani Alves. According to reports, City’s wealthy Arab owners are prepared to offer the Catalans £50m for the full-back-cum-midfielder. Alves himself will earn a salary of £220,000 a week. City director of football Mike Briggs is believed to have flown to Barcelona earlier this week to meet the right-back's representatives. Alves' current deal ends in 18 months time and while the Blues are happy to pay £50m now, they are also prepared to wait and strip Barca of their asset for nothing in June 2011 if they refuse to sell. Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are also believed to be eyeing Alves.
