Blues to make mega move for Modric

(21-12-2010) Diminutive Tottenham midfielder Luca Modric has emerged as Chelsea’s top transfer target for next season. The Croatian has been in top form for Spurs this season as they topped their Champions’ League group ahead of reigning champions Inter Milan. According to reports this has made Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti really take notice. "I was with Ancelotti for lunch. I was very proud when I heard what he said about Modric,” the player’s close friend Zdravko Mamic told The Sun newspaper on Monday. "Luka is top of his list, his first pick when it comes to new signings. I am not Modric's agent - I am just his friend - but I am very proud.” Mamic, the powerful Dinamo Zagreb vice-president, engineered the Croatian star's £17m move to Tottenham two years ago. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will be bracing himself for a £30m bid from the champions.
