Ade ready to be hated and other red-hot gossip
(02-12-2010) Emmanuel Adebayor is ready to dig his heels in with Manchester City to force a loan move to Tottenham in January. The Togo international, who moved to Eastlands from Arsenal for £24m little over a year ago, has had a series of fallouts with City boss Roberto Mancini. He is now determined to leave for Spurs despite the fact that it will make him even more of a hate figure among Arsenal fans than he already is. Adebayor’s massive £150,000-a-week wages may however be a stumbling block. Elsewhere, Newcastle defender Steven Taylor is set to sign a new contract with the club, dashing Tottenham’s hopes of signing him; Chelsea are weighing up a £3.5m move for Lokomotiv Moscow goalkeeper Guilherme, who could provide cover for Petr Cech; and West Ham striker Carlton Cole will command a £10m price tag when he goes up for sale in January.
