Roo set for sensational early return

Wayne Rooney could be in line for a sensational return to action against Bayern Munich in the Champions League next week. According to a Manchester United insider, the player is in a “strap me up, send me out there mood.” Officially he has been ruled out for three weeks after damaging ankle ligaments against Bayern in the first leg of the quarterfinal tie which United lost 2-1. The red-hot striker, who has banged in 34 goals this season, turned up at Old Trafford to watch his team go down 2-1 to Chelsea still wearing a protective boot on his damaged right foot but hopes intensive treatment will enable him to play some part against the Bundesliga giants on Wednesday.
