United could land star for knockdown price

Manchester United could land Karim Benzema from Real Madrid for a bargain. The Frenchman was United’s prime transfer target last summer but eventually joined the Spanish giants for £35m, £10m more than what the Red Devils were prepared to pay Lyon for his services. His time at the Bernabeau has however been disappointing, scoring just seven times in 19 games. With Real now hot on the heels of Valencia star David Villa, rumours are circulating that Benzema will be offered to United for a knockdown price of £18m. AC Milan and Inter Milan are also keeping an eye on the situation and may be ready to scupper United’s bid for the player. Benzema moving to Inter would however suit Manchester City as it would pave the way for Mario Balotelli to move to Eastlands.
