Rooney is loving life

Wayne Rooney believes he has hit the prime of his career, stating that “I’ve never felt better.” The striker has been in wonderful form this season and has already netted 23 goals this season as he has stepped out of the departed Cristiano Ronaldo’s shadow to become the club’s driving force. “I’ve got more responsibility in the team now and I’m enjoying having more of that responsibility,” said Rooney ahead of United’s Champions League clash with AC MILan on Tuesday. He added: “Wherever I’ve played, I have always given my all. It’s the only way I know how to play. But with the system we use, the difference is I’m playing up front instead of Ronaldo now, whereas before I might be put out wide. The truth is I’m loving being the main striker up front on my own, that is my favourite position.”
