Wenger eyes the market

Arsene Wenger has not ruled out dipping into the transfer market this January. With Cameroon ace Alex Song away on African Nations Cup duty and Brazilian midfielder Denilson an injury worry, Wenger admitted he may go after a midfielder. "I said many times I have an open eye on the market and, if the right opportunities come up, we will do something. But, at the moment, I must say I'm still only looking,” admitted Wenger on Sunday. The wily manager, who is arguably the best spotter of talent in the EPL, also revealed that he was resigned to losing Spanish starlet Fran Merida, who is out of contract at the end of the season with Atletico Madrid leading the chase. “I am concerned about Merida, yes,” said Wenger."
