City and United set for fight and other transfer gossip

Manchester City are keeping a close eye on in-demand Palermo central defender Simon Kjaer. The Danish international has been closely linked with a move to City’s archrivals Manchester United and news that the Blues are ready to prise away one of their primary transfer targets is sure to upset Sir Alex Ferguson and company. Elsewhere Thierry Henry is also on City's radar, with Barcelona ready to offload the 32-year-old France international; Portsmouth may not be able to extend Jamie O'Hara's loan stay from Spurs because of the club's transfer embargo preventing them from bringing in new players; West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola is resigned to losing defender Matthew Upson in January with Spurs a likely destination; and Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce must sell before he can make a swoop for Stoke striker James Beattie.
