Afcon disaster for Spurs

Harry Redkanpp believes the African Cup of Nations could spell disaster for Tottenham’s push to finish in the Top Four. Spurs face losing defenders Sebastien Bassong and Benoit Assou-Ekotto who have been called up by Cameroon. And with Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate both injured, Redkanpp faces a defensive crisis in the New Year. "It’s a disaster really for us. Ledley has had a lot of fluid drained off his knee so he’s out. Woody is a slow, slow job. I have no idea when they are going to be fit," moaned Redkanpp on Tuesday. "It is going to be a problem when Bassong goes. We’ll be OK at left-back as we have Gareth Bale, but we have a problem at centre-half if the other two boys don’t get fit." The situation could force Spurs to move for West Ham centre-back Matthew Upson.
