Reds make two massive signings
(31-01-2011) Liverpool moved decisively to allay supporter’s fears following the departure of Fernando Torres by making mega-money moves for strikers Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. Following Torres’ £50m move to Chelsea on Monday, the Reds announced the signings of Carroll from Newcastle for £35m and Suarez from Ajax £22.7m. "Luis Suarez has completed his transfer to Liverpool in a deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2016," a club statement read. He will wear the coveted number seven shirt, made famous by current boss Kenny Dalglish. Another statement read: "Andy Carroll has completed his move from Newcastle to Liverpool and has signed a five-and-a-half-year-deal.” The 22-year-old will wear the number nine shirt vacated by Torres.
